PRESS RELEASE - September 15, 2017
Village of Winfield releases award-winning Popular Annual Financial Report
Winfield charted another first this week, sending residents an easy-to-read financial summary of the Village’s financial health. The Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is sanctioned by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), which has recognized Winfield for its report highlighting key data from the annual audit into a clear, concise document designed for readers without a financial background. While few towns are yet to produce a PFAR, the Village has moved forward to distribute its award-winning report to Winfield’s engaged citizenry. Winfield residents traditionally are a leader in voter participation among DuPage County municipalities.
“We are ahead of the curve here putting this high-level knowledge in the hands of residents,” shared Village President Erik Spande, noting “the Village Board understands the value of educating the public on challenges and opportunities we face together as a community.” Last year, the Village’s first ever PAFR met the rigorous GFOA standards for excellence in financial reporting, receiving the prestigious Award for Outstanding Achievement. The report can be found on the Village website and copies will be inserted with utility bills coming in September.
The PAFR is available for viewing HERE.
